China's Rongsheng Wins EPC Contract for Deepwater Tender Barge
China's Rongsheng Offshore & Marine – a fully owned subsidiary of China Rongsheng Heavy Industries Group – has secured an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contract for a drilling-assisted deepwater tender barge, a company spokesperson confirmed with Rigzone Monday.
"As agreed with all the relevant parties involved in the deal, Rongsheng will not be able to disclose the contract value," the spokesperson said.
The tender barge, ordered by a Norwegian customer, was described in a published statement by Rongsheng Offshore & Marine on Sunday as "one of the largest of its kind in the world."
"With a maximum working depth and drilling depth of 6,562 feet (2,000 meters) and 19,685 feet (6,000 meters), respectively, [the tender barge] meets the global requirements of oil drilling operations in mild-temperature waters," the company said in the statement.
Rongsheng Offshore & Marine is the general contractor for this project, while Jiangsu Rongsheng is the manufacturer.
